The Challenge
Over the course of 10 years using Salesforce, the company had accumulated numerous custom-made solutions within Salesforce, often relying on outdated tools and software. The introduction of Automotive Cloud presented an opportunity to leverage standard objects and out-of-the-box automation solutions. However, the migration to Automotive Cloud posed a significant challenge due to the complexity of data migration required to adapt to the new data model.
What did UNL do
Our approach commenced with a thorough analysis of existing customer and vehicle data, along with their relationships with other objects conducted using standard functionality and installed custom packages. A new data model was crafted based on the Automotive Cloud and Data Cloud frameworks. Rigorous testing was conducted in the full sandbox environment, incorporating all current data.
To optimize system performance and replace outdated tools and features, several key changes were implemented:
- Workflows and processes were replaced by flows, streamlining automation.
- Classic record pages were migrated to Lightning dynamic pages, enhancing user experience and navigation.
- Email alerts were replaced by Marketing Cloud’s journeys, offering advanced communication capabilities.
- Apex classes and triggers underwent thorough cleanup and reformatting, improving code quality and maintainability.
The Results
- The company's Salesforce instance underwent comprehensive cleanup, resulting in improved performance and reliability.
- This successful project modernized the company's Salesforce environment and positioned them to embrace the full potential of Automotive Cloud and Data Cloud, enhancing competitiveness in the automotive industry.
- The new data model, built upon Automotive Cloud and Data Cloud, enabled leveraging of out-of-the-box automations and features, leading to a remarkable 24% reduction in staff working hours.
